  2. I really want to start a Guinea pig rescue after I leave school. I currently have two pet guinea pigs and I absolutely adore them with all my heart and constantly see guinea pigs for free on things like gum tree and wish I could take them in. Saskia has inspired me so much and taught me so much about guinea pigs. I'm so glad that I found this channel

  3. What a lovely true story! I don't believe you found that ranch Saskia! That ranch found you! And you're a mum wow l have been wanting to ask but didn't feel l should. I β™₯ this video!!!

  4. Notice how its WHITE people doing this and not all the other loving caring colours out there. And yes it is White people who teach these others compassion you know the same shit they cry for but don't wanna show animals and such.

  5. Saskia, you are such an angel. You have taught me so much and helped me with my own teeny tiny rescue in my home. Without your guidance I would not be able to do this work. For me, I take in small animals, and in my location, there is more need for rat rescue. Your medical advice has helped me immensely. I appreciate all the work you do on behalf of the little ones, And I thank you for your service. Love, mare

  6. Saskia, you are a worthy sucessor to the U.K.'s Peter Gurney! I met Peter in 2000 when he came to the east coast of the U.S. At that time, many of us were reading the Guinea Pig Daily Digest listserve and sharing what Peter was doing to treat sick pigs. I credit him with a number of breakthroughs in the care of gps and I was so very sad and sorry when he passed away so unexpectedly. His appearance in the DC area was actually coordinated by the Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue and every year, they remember him on their facebook page. I am glad that you were one of his proteges and are carrying on his legacy at the rescue and with the videos.

I have his book, "The Proper Care of Guinea Pigs" on my shelf and I have referred to it for almost 20 years because of his common sense approach. So much of what is in the current edition of the Barron's book on guinea pigs came from his work. I became a much better pet owner for having learned from him and for hearing him talk about guinea pig care. When Peter visited, he not only had sent his books ahead to be sold, but he also brought items from the now-defunct Winking Cavy store and I have a very nice brush that has been used to groom quite a few pigs!

For those of you who cannot find Peter's books easily, his suggestions for treating guinea pig illnesses can be found here: http://oginet.com/pgurney/ It may need a little updating or may suggest soemthing that gp owners are not comfortable doing themselves, but it does provides guideposts so one can better understand when illness strikes.

  7. My mom and I have finally decided to start a guinea pig rescue soon. I was wondering if you can do a video on where you got your cages and some of your piggies backstory.
