I remember watching both the Growing Pains and Family Ties show on alcoholism in the 80s/90s. The Growing Pains episode was more impactful and shocking to me. Kudos to ABC, the writers, actors and etc for that memorable episode.
Some say, this is the origin story of Sand…Chandl…Matthew Perry’s pain pill addiction. Because this episode was soooo painful he had to quell the pain somehow.
They could of done so much more with this episode. She could of got pregnant and been a single mom. “But mom he pulled out” could of been the Spinoff series. This was a missed opportunity to keep this show on the air for years and years.
