  1. Hey LCN! Could use some advice plz. My yard is lookn really good, nice dark green after throwing it down! But I have patches that are a lighter green. Not from missing areas with milo tho….its a grass just lighter in color. Any suggestions??

  2. I just came across you’re videos recently and I’m hooked. Great job and very informative! My question is, I’m in the northeast and put down my crabgrass pre emergent a few weeks ago but I ordered some topsoil for my roses beds and they gave me a couple extra yards of topsoil. I wanted to level out a few spots in my yard but I’m hesitant because I’m afraid I can’t put seed down. Do you think it’s too soon to throw seed down on the fresh topsoil?

  3. I'm wanting to seed, starter Fert, and roll lawn now in the spring because of the dog tearing up his path all fall and winter. With pre / post emergents pushing out 6 weeks. I'm up north, temps are mid 40s at night. Am I crazy?

  4. Anybody know what spreader setting 12lbs/1000sqft is on the Earthaway 2600A Plus? I know 3lbs/1000 is setting 13 or so. My guestimate is that 12lbs/1000 is around setting 20.

  5. Hey man, thanks for all you do! Your videos are by far the best. I have a question… My yard measures 8000sf and I just bought one bag of miloganite 0636. It states covers 2000sf but in Florida, 6000sf. I live in Athens, Georgia. Would I use the 2000sf or is there a sliding range dependent on latitude? Thanks again!

  6. Hi Allyn. Thanks for the awesome videos. Really learning a lot from you and others.

Central NJ here and it's mid April now. I have really compacted clay soil here and had a lot of bare spots from a new lawn being put in two years ago. The contractor used Jonathan Green Black Beauty grass. To cover up the bare spots, I did a spring overseeding last year, and because of that, I didn't put down any pre emergents. As a result I had tons of crabgrass and goosegrass last year and now I still have bare or thin spots where they died off last year, albeit thicker than what it used to be. I did another round of overseeding again last fall, along with starter fertilizer. Finally I put down Jonathan Green's winter survival early November and because of that, my lawns the greenest in the neighborhood right now. But I still want to address the thin spots left where the goosegrass died off last year. I've realized that I need to add a bit of topsoil when overseeding, esp in the bare spots.

I want to do another round of overseeding, but I'm wondering if I should deal with crabgrass first by putting down Prodiamine or dithiopyr now and overseeding in the fall. Or use 2x apps of tenacity and overseed in May. Soil temps are 53F now and I'm seeing a bunch of bunching tall fescue, clover, dandelions, thistle, and other broadleaf weeds already. Thanks

  7. So I just got connected to your page. We threw pre emergent down March 24 but I noticed you put both fertilizer and pre emergent down together. Now that it's April 11 and I was late to the party, what should I do next?

  8. Alan, I am coming out of winter and my grass(weeds) are really starting to grow quickly. My question is whether or not it is best to mow for an even 3.5 inches across the lawn then spray for weeds or should I kill the weeds with a post emergent and then mow later. In what order would you suggest, or does it even matter? Thanks

  9. I spent a good 6 hours hand plucking plantains from my 60,000 sq ft lawn last season because i didn't want to wait for a post-em to kill them off. Good way to get a suntan in NY i suppose! 😀

  10. I have a question that I haven't been able to find the answer to in the videos or documents. Maybe I am missing it. I have a Lesko spreader, but the version I got didn't have a deflector, and not sure I need one? Noticed in this video you are using one without a deflector also. Without a deflector, are there any techniques or concerns I should have when I run up alongside a house, fence, or property line? I should add, my spreader doesn't have a way to change the pattern either, that I know of.

  11. More lies you can spray during colder temps it just takes longer for the weeds to die because the plants metabolism slows down.. BUT if it is mid day and 65+ degrees guess what that plant is taken in the herbicide until it gets cold… So i mean false information is false information.. Another lie Pre-Emergent will stop clover from taking over.. By the way a little more knowledge do not pull weeds out by hand why? Dandelions for example if you do not pull out the entire root system (i mean the entire thing) They just regrow… This is why i have a problem with this guy always giving people bad information.. I understand milorganite is organic BUT its says on their SDS sheet (Saftey Data Sheet) To use proper ppe like gloves and not to directly breath in the product aka. do not stick your face in it.. Read the warning label.. i am glad at 14:28 you are using gloves to handle a herbicide fertilize and a dust mask so i guess you do know what ppe is but only selectively use it.. By the way idk if those are proper gloves but when handling this kind of stuff they need to be NITRILE gloves…

  12. Quick question is there any seeds and starter fertilizer that Home Depot or Lowes sale that you recommend so I can start on my yard up here in New England?

  13. Hi Allyn! I just signed up for your newsletter and ordered prodiamine! When you say "water in" the pre-emergent, what exactly do you mean? A good soak with the sprinkler system? A light sprinkle with a hose sprayer? Plan the application just before rain is expected? Thanks!

  14. Instead of raking or blowing the dead leaves, is there a benefit to mulching them into the lawn? I think I read somewhere doing that to the dead fall leaves like that can add carbon into the soil (similar to adding nitrogen back to the soil by mulching green grass when it's mowed).

  15. Dude, this video just showed me that I have been fighting a battle with the wrong weed. I thought I had an outbreak of crabgrass but instead it is dandelion. I have some quinclorac from my last house and was going to utilize it. This new house had horrible owners in regards to the lawn. It is filled with weeds. Would you mind doing a video of different types of weeds. I am sure I am not the only one that is lost and confused. Thanks man, you have helped me out a ton over the years. Keep up the outstanding work.
