Former Vice President and 2020 Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden says he would not legalize marijuana because it is a “gateway drug,” a widely …

  1. Biden is just talking politics, plain and simple. He's not publicly committing to doing anything about legalizing cannabis because he's aiming to be the "centrist" candidate, so before the election he doesn't want to alienate the Republican population he's trying to appeal to by supporting recreational marijuana and thus offending their conservative sensibilities. Saying "there's not enough research on cannabis as a gateway drug" is nothing more than a pretext to avoid taking a stance on the subject until the election is over.

  2. It just proves Biden isn't paying attention to the issue. You can bet he is just phoning it in thinking he can just repeat old misleading tropes and this proves he doesn't understand the reality at all.

  3. I live in the Mile HIGH. Pot needs to be federally legalized ASAP. People with Kaiser on opiate pain medication CANNOT smoke/use weed. If it shows up in their system they can’t ever fill pain medication again. This is complete bullshit. Especially since so many kinds of marijuana can treat pain and help get off of medications. Big Pharma would not be happy about this so they’ve purchased politicians to keep it from becoming legal. Bernie Sanders will legalize pot as soon as he’s in office. ~ Bernie Sanders 2020 ~

  4. This is exactly what I’ve always thought. Where do kids in high school get cocaine or LSD? Well, I’d wager that they’re not getting them from the same place they get their alcohol. Weed being a gateway drug is a function of its illegality, not anything about its physiologically addictive properties.

  5. Biden’s right, cannabis is definitely a gateway drug. One joint leads to another and next thing you know you’re hooked on Adderall and UK-sourced Sudafed. He’s just trying to protect the US from future potential junkie presidents. Seriously though prohibition is proven to be ineffective but it’s not the message the “respectable” middle classes want to hear, even if some of the middle classes are some of the biggest consumers of far more destructive substances such as cocaine. As The Disposable Heroes once sang, hypocrisy is the greatest luxury.

  6. Joe's only quality that I can like is he doesn't try to pretend to be something he is not. I got a hell of a lot more respect for him on that than any of the other centrists in the race.

  7. There's a simpler and more straightforward way in which marijuana as an illegal drug is an indirect gateway drug: If you (have to) buy your marijuana from a person who sells illegal drugs, you are likely to be offered a free or inexpensive sample of a way more dangerous illegal drug from them after they've gotten to known you as a customer. A relative got her hands on her first dose of cocaine that way. Offered to her by her marijuana dealer. And most people she knows who once tried (and in some cases then continued to use) cocaine or crack got their first cocaine or crack from some marijuana dealer.

Gotta ad, though, that my sister and I were once offered cocaine completely out of the blue when walking nearby a mostly safe but occasionally somewhat shady area. And once I was asked for coke (taking rather long to get that the person was talking about cocaine and not Coca Cola or something else) totally out of the blue as well when sitting in a similar kind of area. The places I'm talking about are often frequented by families with small children during the day.

  8. David, EXCELLENT segment. I wish I could find an old (very late 60s – early 70s) bit that George Carlin did on mother's milk leads to heroin addiction. Forget that it was also funny, but it was just as logical (or illogical) as cannibas being a "gateway" drug. I think it would behoove our country a whole lot more to block the gateways to our current state of mass ignorance.

  9. Saw a great comment awhile back that represented Biden (and a lot of politicians to be honest) after he had one of his "well I won't make anything worse but I won't make anything better, let's give you more of the same" nonsense comments.
"Pick a lane grandpa, we are all collectively stuck doing 35 mph behind your whole generation while you drive in the left lane with your blinker on for the last 50 miles"
And again he proves why he is not a good fit for president. Brings nothing new to the table and has archaic ways of thinking that have been proven false. Would he be better than trump? A turd sandwich would be better than trump. We need someone who is willing to actually try and help the people of this country not another terrified of change and refusal of even trying something new type "leader".

  10. Weed is a gateway drug when you have to go to a drug dealer, and he had your weed, but there is also some cocaine on the table, so you buy some of that just because…

The first time I bought molly was when I went to get some weed and the dude had molly sitting around.

  11. Biden has the black vote but is against the #1 policy which is going to prevent them from being jailed by the police, let alone their records expunged

    Wake up people

  12. I'm 37. Started smoking weed when I was 12. Started smoking pretty much all the time around 14. Never liked drinking and was one of only a few of my friends that didn't end up on opioids.

  13. Marijuana being illegal is a gateway for even simpler psychological reasons than "being around the criminal scene, violence, heavy drug users" etc.
Most people don't want to break the law. But if the law doesn't make sense to them, they're a lot more likely to take that step and go "fuck it, guess I'm a criminal now."
Once you've stepped over that threshold, doing other illegal stuff becomes much easier. After all, you've already committed a jailable offence, so what do you have to lose?

  14. How about that! A Jew pushing drugs, gambling and pornography.

Jew -S -A is in its downward trajectory simply because it uses 'The jew' as a blackmail device on a rigged roulette wheel.

…Hence have they managed to extort by a phoney impeachment inquiry a Trump concession for further 'encroachment' in The OCCUPIED TERRITORIES.

Once a squatter always a squatter.

  15. David you don't need to explain to your viewers about marijuana I think 99% of your viewers are in touch with the evidence and the research that has been done out there this old man goes to prove my point. that not only will he not listen to reason or research or evidence hes gonna stick to his old ideas because that is what he is…old… just like trump you can't change his mind on anything unless it benefits him to get a few more votes but we all know hes going to say" I'm not going to do anything about it. "…until he becomes president And then he will make it illegal for everybody in every state… fk him… I wasn't going to vote for him anyway but now I'm gonna go around telling people not to vote for him make sure I get enough people than that vote for him and spread the word David dont vote for this old man with his old ideas
