Brian and Darren Hefty explain how farmers choose the row spacings they plant in their crop fields.

  1. I have compared different row spacings in soybeans for my Bachelor's degree last fall. There was little to no diffence in yield between 15" and 30" row spacings, which means I am planting at 30" from now on – I can use my corn planter and it's easier to get in the field to spray post-emerge.
