Involuntary Hospitalization of the Psychiatric Patient: Should it be Abolished? (USPHS, 1969)
This film presents a panel discussion between Jules H. Masserman, M.D., Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry, Northwestern University Medical School, and …
@6:36 "In my opinion he is not a patient, he is a person, an individual who feels troubled." It might not even be a person that feels troubled. It could be a person with no problems at all. It's pretty clear why this must be the case because psychiatrists do not use sufficient evidence when diagnosing people with so-called mental illnesses. What that means is that anyone randomly can at any time be diagnosed as mentally ill. The "so-called mental illnesses" are also in themselves not backed by sufficient evidence. And without sufficient evidence the "illnesses" become fictions/something make-believe created by the psychiatrists.
Dr Szasz probably believes violent criminals shouldn't be sent to prison either. Too bad sor society. Prison must be contractual. What a crock of BS! The mentally ill ARE sick! They need care. And many times they ARE a danger to society! This man is responsible for closing the very institutions that were taking care of the mentally ill…and tossing them out on the streets.
Reopen those mental institutions.
It was cruel to turn those poor people lose to wander about, not take their meds, eat out of dumpsters, sleep and defecate on streets. Then, there are the voices in their heads and the violence…. Reopen and return these poor people to where they belong and will be cared for!
Masserman employs one of the oldest tricks of influencing, which in this case evades taking Dr. S’s very clear axioms of consent and freedom… He agrees with him by reiterating social nature of disorders. Then circles around basic things that we all agree on and continues to evade the facts of involuntary confinement
Thank you for your courage and for exposing these barbaric crimes, Dr. Szasz.
Psychiatrists are uneasy about being criticised, and therefore should be controlled. Psychiatrists have a clearly deviant pattern that needs to be subjected to criminal law, or subjected to their own maltreatments until they confess to the people they have maimed and murdered through such maltreatments. Psychiatrists are a serious disturbance in our society. https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/council/petitions/electronic-petitions/view-e-petitions/details/12/159 & chng.it/j9X8xNq7LB #right2refuse

Psychiatrists inquisition should be prosecuted and sentence to a lengthy jail term for involuntary detainment and crimes against the patient…
