Thank you for the informal video! I just posted a fitness video where my guest discusses how fitness influences her mental health. Would love if you could check it out! Thanks!
I don't have much time at the moment, but I remember very clearly reading stuff about how physical exercise improves overall cognitive function and mood. This is known for some time now. There are also differences between the types of exercise one does. For example lifting weights is better than yog, running (and possibly swimming) is better than lifting weights. Great to see studies that add mental health to this picture. Thanks, mate.
While I agree, its not all that simple also. I suffer from severe mental health issues (depression, panic-anxiety disorder, BPD, ) and am disabled because of this. And yes, I've been diagnosed and in therapy, just to put that out of the way with all these kids acting like snowflake victims, thinking they are actually depressed.
I'm currently doing a lot of physical activities. Be it building muscle, jogging, swimming and hiking in the woods. Its true. It DOES in fact alleviate the symptoms a lot. But medication is still needed. Therapy is still needed. I still get heavy panic attacks in big crowds. I do NOT have control about these things. The only control I have is to at least try and do something against these symptoms. But I still need help from outside. Be it my therapist, my social worker, loved ones. Its not like all these physical activities have suddenly solved my mental illness.
So yes, you are right. But it should be taken with a grain of salt. The attitude of most doc's just handing out the pills without looking deeper in to the problems, is really shitty, I agree. I actually refused any medication, for years, due to being sceptical after having some really bad times with psychotropic drugs. I was also pretty much anti ALL kind of mental health medication, due to that. BUT. One has to differentiate. Certain medication can save lives. Specially with dangerously suicidal people. Its good for the symptoms. For a while. Not the solution, sure. I know you probably know all this and I'm not trying to come of as rude. I just think its important to be very careful about how to present these things and not forget that its a complex and nuanced issue.
Thanks for the video though. Very encouraging study! Although I don't need it to know that building muscle and getting fit is making me feel MUCH better!
WHAT does it have to do with gender dysphoria????
