Lawn Pre-Emergents for Weed Control / Fall & Spring
Learn the best way to control weeds in lawns, that’s easy, fast and can give you a beautiful lawn all season long. Yet most homeowners don’t understand or …
Like you, I live in MA and would like to know how you determine when to put the pre emergent down. Do you do it around the same date every year, or base it on the temp, or is it some other method, etc? My lawn is probably 90% crabgrass at this point, so I was just going to let it die this winter and try the pre emergent in the spring. Please let me know your thoughts.
Great Channel! I've watched nearly all. 2 questions. First, if I were to use Lesco Fertilizer, how do I know which to use "19-0-6"? what are those numbers and how do I determine which is best for my lawn. Second, if we still have some concerns about the risks to children and pets could I get away with having a great lawn with Tenacity alone as a post emergent? Thanks for the insight and advice. Please continue with the great videos.
Can I put pre emergents in my flower beds without hurting bushes? What about along our road driveway, I typically spray round up but maybe this would be more effective? I know it technically isn’t the lawn but thought you would have the answer.
I once watched a video where you use Tenacity. I fail to find it right now (because you have many good videos, and sometimes it isn't easy to navigate among them), but I recall you have a good wide coverage sprayer. What sprayer did you use? Or is it just a matter of nozzle? Thank you!
I was impressed just from how you put the bag on the back of a vehicle, sliced it open & let it pour into the spreader. It's truly the little things, as I grow thru this process.
When applying any weed killer I would advise wearing long pants, long sleeve shirt, high top boots, goggles, and breathing mask. Then wash clothes in a separate wash.
The negative I see here is that this is poison and ends up draining down to waterways. It's harmful to life. This year I went organic, used a ton of chicken manure, hand pulled out weeds. Have never seen so many good insects in the garden: (Bee's, butterflies, dragonflies, hover flies…). Pollination of plants was fantastic: happy days and no harmful chemicals.
Dandelion's are essential for the bee's. Stop using weed killers and pesticides. You say one negative the negative is you are adding to the endangerment of bees!!!!
I don't know much about lawn care…so I have question to ask you…after fertilizing in early spring, you don't recommend watering the grass right away? Also, my grass doesn't look lush, think and green. What would you recommend for me to do? Early spring seeding? Thanks for the video.
I want to use post emergent weed killer but I have 3 cats and am afraid they will get poisoned. Is there any herbicide/weed killer that is safe on pets? What substances should I avoid in a weed killer?
Time to get out and put down the crabgrass pre-emergent. First of April best time for it. Lesco makes awsome products. Really enjoy going to my local SiteOne store. They have everything I need and are helpful. Lesco and Anderson me awsome spreaders top quality
I just scattered a ton of dandelion and clover seeds on my biodiverse 'lawn'. I love to eat dandelion salad and the bees, who are quickly disappearing, love the clover blossoms. So I save a lot of money and labor by not fussing over a monoculture lawn, don't poison my soil with ecocides and don't have to waste precious, clean water on keeping a grass lawn green in the hot summer months. My biodiverse 'lawn' also doesn't have to be cut as frequently and the lovely yellow and white flowers look attractive on their green background all summer.
Awesome video Silver, don’t forget to water that pre emergent in really well, needs 1/2” of irrigation or rainfall to work properly. Also pre emergents don’t stop all weeds, mostly used for crabgrass prevention 🙂
That is a great spreader. When I worked at Scotts Lawn Service years ago as a tech we used the same one. Excellent video explaining the pre em applicatiion. 🙂
Love your videos!

I watched to the end hahaha!

Great videos! Keep them coming
Love the dog waiting for his ride in the back of the Kubota. I have cats that look out the window at me like "What on earth is he DOING out there?"

Use to use Lesco but they should out. Howard’s is the best and half the price….
Thank you.
What a sweet “buddy” TFS
I like using a hose end sprayer. do you have tenacity for a hose instead of a little sprayer. I have an acre

In Europe all herbicide are no more authorised. It s way more difficult with bio products
Thumb up for the dog. By the way it's a good advertisement for Kubota.

Cool season la name are easy compared to warm season where a liquid pre emergent is a must and fall application is the most important
If I had that spreader I would keep it in the house, not the garage, the house. Great video.
Just put that same product down yesterday. (Northern Mass) Going Lesco for all applications this year. Can't wait taee how it turns out
Your dog's a riot, great video!
Why is your lawn a whole park?
