How will we survive when the population hits 10 billion? | Charles C. Mann
By 2050, an estimated 10 billion people will live on earth. How are we going to provide everybody with basic needs while also avoiding the worst impacts of …
As we live in capitalist world, NOTHING apart from money matters. People’s lives don’t matter as money is more important. Our species ( and many many more as has been proven already) is destined to die. Food shortages in some regions and too much food in other parts of the world, pollution, toxic waste, everyday waste, dead zones in the oceans, resource shortages…. there is thousands of examples. By 2050 the world will not look as it does today. People will literally destroy ecosystems and cover all the world with rubbish…. it is inevitable
The solution will be to come up with tech that allows for greater harvests, educate more people allowing for greater chance for technological advancements or improvements in society. But also we need to make sure we have sustainable fuel and decrease or dependence on fossil fuels. If we can come up with space tech that allows for colonization I think it will alleviate some of the overcrowding pressures her on earth but our future lies in improving the environment on earth and cleaning up our climate and also investing in terraforming technology to allow us to spread out in our galaxy
This speaker is talking of Boserupian theory vs Malthusian theory. This is a well know debate in the study of sustainibility. He has also shown clear bias in his argument.
Our world has many built in ways to stop us from overpopulating it and we've seen many of them throughout history. Viruses and diseases are one and they have killed billions of people throughout history. Malaria by itself kills a million per year. Our continued man made build up of greenhouse gases though are ultimately going to put our population back to a much more manageable level for our earth and we'll probably see its effects in our lifetime. It's not going to be pretty.
easy, just make the hunger games a real thing.

Doesn't matter, capitalism is going to wipe out our environment long before this happens.
