'Marijuana Legalization: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, And Where We Are Going'
Deputy Director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws Paul Armentano takes the stage at the Ron Paul Institute’s Houston conference …
Consenting adults have the right to use any intoxicating substances they want to, but if they try to sell them to my kids I have the right to cave their skulls in with a baseball bat. Sounds fair to me.
Happy to see Americans have the freedom to weed, drugs and guns. They can all become drug addicts and kill each other I’m with guns and leave the rest of the world alone.
Sincere Thanks to Ron Paul and all Liberty Lovers. I am a Viet Nam veteran (USMC, 1966, 1967, Honorable Discharge) with Agent Orange. Is it true that marijuana benefit people without hidden harm? After using marijuana, they will cry again, marijuana should not be legalized because blah… blah… blah… again. People are full of stupidity, only can see in the short distance, they can't considerate for the long run harmful. If marijuana is so good, why then China doesn't let their own people used it? I wonder why? Yes, they don't have big pharmaceutical problem over there like us?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All legalization is doing is putting weed in the hands of big buisness losers who know nothing about weed. One day it will just be monstano and their buddies running weed.
What is the role of government illegalizing what one can consume which grows out of the ground naturally from the beginning of known history and which they did not create? It's tyrannical no doubt.
Indian Hemp Commission…American Indian or Asian?…Wisconsin still living ''Reefer Madness" and growing one cannabis plant a felony. Question: Is M-Cannabis really a drug or a plant? As long as it is not processed, it should not be considered a drug.
Marijuana is not a stepping stone to heroine . That would be pain killer opioids made from opium from afghanistan and sold by the big pharma drug cartel that leads to heroine . Btw , are american soldiers gaurding opium fields in afghanistan ?
There are so many people who dont use it and would traditionally be against it who aren't anymore. They support the decriminalization of it as well. Minds really have changed.
Drug laws on the federal level are not Constitutional, including marijuana.Legalizing marijuana will not bring about an age of medical and social paradise. The peer reviewed literature is politically tainted and the claims of safety and medical efficacy should be taken with a grain of salt. After all,Bozo the Clown is somebody's peer.
Hemp/ marijuana ….a natural plant with many benefits…so, who made it illegal & why Try Rockefellers, DuPonts etc because marijuana cannot be patented etc. Nothing to do with smoking, everything to do with industrialists & profit financially.
I will never forget Dr. Ron Paul advocating for drug legalization in 1988 on the Morton Downey Jr TV show. Downey and his “just say no” brainwashed minions savaged Dr. Paul. The video is on YouTube and will really piss you off!
Needless to say I’ve been a fan of Dr. Paul ever since.
I don't smoke pot. I am for the legalization of all drugs. It's supposed to be a free country. The war on drugs has turned into a war on the American people. Countries that have legalized or decriminalized drugs are more civilized.
I think states should do what they think is right with NO federal intervention. BUT…states must SOLELY accept the COST of this legalization. A man in Nebraska should not be taxed for Colorado's expenses in conjunction with the legalization of Pot. There will be a price to pay.
I DO NOT WANT KMART CANNABIS! I ALREADY HAVE THE NATURAL AND RELIGOUS RIGHT BY GOD~JAH HIMSELF, DONT CARE IF ITS 'LEGAL' OR NOT, ITS LAWFUL IN RIGHTEOUSNESS…. GMO GANJAH, POISONED GANJAH, GO OLD SCHOOL, DO NOT SUPPORT NON ORGANIC DISPENSERIES, GROW YOUR OWN, ORGANIC LANDRACE AND OLD AMERICAN HYBRIDS…. 90 PERCENT OF COLORADO IS GROWN WITH RADIOACTIVE PHOSPHORUS…..
THE GOVT. SHOULDNT HAVE A SAY PERIOD…. FUCK BIG CORP CANNABIS
to hell with "legalization"..it should be completely decriminalized.
Here in Canada we are seeing exactly what 'legalization' does..HEAVY
regulations and never ending problems for consumers, retailers and the so called "criminals" caught with the medicine that is not titled 'legal'. Complete hypocrisy/tyranny by the govt..surprise surprise!
I was not in my legal age to vote my hero 1988, but I have actively advocated the next 2 other elections of 2008 and 2012. Unfortunately the rest of American sheeples went and voted Obama 2X. Now they pay for the price of voting wrong candidates continuously, exactly the definition of "insanity"
The legalization of Marijuana should have occured a decade ago, but thank goodness finally we're doing something for the American people instead of imprisoning them.
Legalizing pot is a non issue. They just use it as a tax crop. The only thing that matters is freeing ourselves from the tax farmers. An illegal plant is just a tiny symptom of the disease that is the government.
Paul, you mentioned that Marijuana only falls within the definition of a "Schedule 1" drug because it, "…has no medically beneficial purpose." Based on that definition of a Schedule 1 Drug, Marijuana does not fit that "legal definition" because the Federal Govt., via the FDA, has approved the use of a Marijuana based drug "EPIDIOLEX" for treatment of epilepsy. So, no more Sch-1.
Why aren't you pushing this loss of "Schedule 1" legal definition in the D.C. courts?
Marijuana has been legal for me since it was introduced to me in my youth, regardless of society's "rules". Its elevated my life and mind in ways indescribable.
TRUMP IS A COWARD WITH NO INTEGRITY! ALONG WITH BARRY SANTORO!COWARDS! BOTH THESE 2 COWARDS LEAD US TO BELIEVE THEY WERE GONNA PULL THE PLUG ON FEDERAL REEFA! COWARDS AND JUST SOME MORE WELFARE FOR SWINE LIKE DEA! STAY WELL RON,TY
The old are dying as to why more are for it.. They bought into that bs about it being a gateway or other bs. NEVER TRUST THE GOVERNMENT. There has been plenty of lies since. WW2 started on bs and so on.
Thank you for that wonderful lecture however, you need to refocus your sights to pick-up on what could be the biggest set-back in the 420 Universe since Al Capone was walking the streets of Chicago.
A billion-dollar marijuana cartel is about to be put into the hands of a few Chicago grown politicians. The outcome will provide ammunition to the Federal Prohibition crowd to shoot down your efforts to federally decriminalize marijuana.
Illinois is known as the most corrupt state in the Union; however, no one seems to be asking the most obvious question… “Who is keeping an eye on the politicians that can’t wait to get their hands on this mountain of cash?”
In a state with a population of 13 million people, why limit this program to seventy-five (75) Recreational Marijuana Licenses? Obviously, it’s much easier to extort “Political Contributions” from 75 grateful, hand-selected, vendors rather than shaking down a thousand vendors in a free-market.
The primary justification for legalizing Recreational Marijuana was to alleviate the financial crisis in Illinois, now $206 billion in debt – the worst in the country. If the interest of the politicians were to relieve the financial crisis, a free-market plan would provide the greatest benefit to Illinois taxpayers, not to the corrupt Illinois Political Machine.
Limiting the number of Cannabis Stores is also great news for the drug dealers, the dealers who will be able to stay in business and continue selling to kids.
The thousands of good paying jobs that would be created immediately, by an open-market system, will now be stifled by the current plan of just 75 Recreational Marijuana Licenses.
In Illinois, 75 licenses means one (1) license per every 773 square miles and, even if you include the Medical Dispensaries, that would be one (1) per every 443 square miles. So, unless fixed, be prepared to stand in line for hours on end to make a purchase.
We still have time to correct all of these problems! Share this article with your Illinois Senator and Representative, then spread the word on all of your social media platforms demanding reforms.
I thought the Government is not to infringe upon the pursuit of happiness, and are not being Jurist Prudent by not keeping what they deem illegal from within our midst… so that in the pursuit of happiness one might find the marijuana Herb Constitutionally legal when they find it to use in said pursuit of happiness.
Consenting adults have the right to use any intoxicating substances they want to, but if they try to sell them to my kids I have the right to cave their skulls in with a baseball bat. Sounds fair to me.

Also legal weed has been an excuse to take away guns, by basically saying if you smoke weed you disqualify yourself from being able to own a firearm
All legalization is doing is putting weed in the hands of big buisness losers who know nothing about weed. One day it will just be monstano and their buddies running weed.

Dr. Paul, I wish you did an interview with Dr. Burzynski. I think it would be a wonderful interview for this libertarian platform.
Indian Hemp Commission…American Indian or Asian?…Wisconsin still living ''Reefer Madness" and growing one cannabis plant a felony. Question: Is M-Cannabis really a drug or a plant? As long as it is not processed, it should not be considered a drug.
I would be surprised and amused if I met anyone under the age of 50 who actually thinks cannabis should be banned.

We have to fight to legalize something government never had a right to make illegal?

The War On Drugs is nothing but a sham.
But no American monopoly in the world.. Not gonna happen.
Uruguay the only true legalization… Canada and US model .. is nothing, but governament trying to compete with criminals….

Assert your sovereignty stop obeying tyranny policies described as laws (real laws protect others from harm) they don't create harm. ✌🕊
