PREVENTATIVE You want to repeat Ivermectin treatments every 3 months or so. It prevents lice, mites and internal parasites. Even if you guinea pigs are not in touch with others they can still get these parasites. They lie dormant and will activate when the animal is under the weather, aging or under stress.
You can either put a drop on the ear of the injectable Ivermectin (though you don’t inject it just a pea sized drop on the outer skin of the ear) This is a great method if you have a lot of animals
You can use a horse wormer paste that contains Ivermectin and put a pea sized amount in their mouth. This is more economical if you have a small herd.
Can someone help me? I have 2 baby guinea pigs about 3 to 4 weeks old that have mange, can they use the medications above? My country's vet don't really have much experience with guinea pigs and I'm scared of vets due to their mom dying because of wrong medication or mis-diagnose.
Funny that all animals seem to have the ability to get addictions to mind altering substances. I think it's reindeer that enjoy red mushrooms with white spots. But yeah i can only imagine the relief that comes instantly after meds.
Yeah guys our guinea pig Simba Jones had sarcoptic mange mite and we treated him with Front line dosage per body weight.. Simba was in terrible pain and having seizures. The vet mis-diognosed Simba and he got worse… Learning curve for us and we treated him and Simba Jones is a healthy male 2 year old bull, and a valued member of our family… Note we have 30 piggies and love them all.
Saskia, Scotty should hv them Piggie Nails/Oats Sweathers on the market. Nails/Oats is such a cutie. Also, I didn't know that piggies could eat oats but I guess it's in the category with fruit when given only a little due to sugar intake?💖
I've had demodex mange that I caught from a rescue cat. You have NO idea how incredibly painful and irritating those mites are until you are infested yourself. It felt like the skin on my chest was on fire. The kitty made a complete recovery and humans are an end host, so the mites can't reproduce in our skin – they just burrow in and cause secondary infections if not treated. I used the same sulfur-lime dip on myself that I used on the cat, and it was very soothing.
He’s adorable…..I used a seaweed foam creamer given to me by a pathologist for animals…..it cleared up and healed deep sores from mites on a guinea pig I rescued….. If you could ask around for it it might help healing. Other alternative is organic coconut oil. Other is Paxil which is experimental if he becomes OCD with the itching. Never put vit c in water..put it into his mouth directly. Good luck with your baby

Seems you know a lot about health but you know nothing about food. Oats and pellets are so bad for them.

So what's the dose of Benadryl for a Guinea pig?
I’m not sure what was funnier… the hall and oats cover or Scotty with his V05 german accent?! 🤣🤣
How is he now? To cute😍
i wonder if he is still doing ok?..
Nails does an elvis impression with his collar up….too cute ❤️😍🥰
The sock+vet wrap kind of reminds me of how you wrap or put a sweater on a parrot to discourage plucking.
