Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya or pitayaha, is an incredible fruit produced by a cactus! Contrary to its name, the dragon fruit care is actually not like most cacti.

  1. I'm one of those that thinks dragonfruit tastes bland. But I love the beauty of the plant and fruit it bears so I'd grow it for that reason. I saw a video from "Vietnam Meets Dustin" where he was hunting birds in a dragonfruit farm and the plants were amazing looking!

  2. Hi there! Great video. I am here because I popped the rotting top off a grafted cactus and BOOM all these branches started sprouting off the host cacti. Come to find out I have a dragonfruit. Lol Problem is now the leggy sproutings are growing the roots from the sides, apparently trying to reach for something. I'm in St Louis, so definitely not tropical or sunny unless its May through September, so I have my plant inside with some grow lights for the winter. But the finger-looking roots have me scrambling for what to do as it grows over the winter. 😮 I'm assuming my best bet would be get a big pot and immediately repot and secure it to a rough surface like chicken wire or something? I'm going to have to bring this in and out of the house as the seasons change.

  3. Do you know if prickly pear could tolerate a bit of peat moss? Most of my cacti don't like peat moss so I just use a clay, sand mix but I was curious if the prickly pear could use a bit more moisture??

  5. I've got a ton of them sprouting that I just took out from like a scoop of them from a grocery store. They are doing okay but it looks like they aren't growing too much beyond sprouts, or at least not too quickly.
