Today on the farm we’ll test some All Natural organic weed killer. I’ve been testing products here on the farm to help keep my fence lines and roadways free of …

  1. 10 dollar 40 lb bag of salt at home store gallon of vinager and dish soap, disolve salt in 5 gallon in bucket till salt stops disolving add little soap and vinager and spray 15 bucks will last couple years

  2. From Howard Garrett Web page. CORN GLUTEN MEAL PRE-EMERGENT

The timing for applying corn gluten meal for pre-emergent weed control is just before the weeds start to germinate. We usually guess that to be February 15 to March 15.
    Liquid corn gluten meal spray – a listener/farmer recommendation that's a great idea. 2014
The way we use corn gluten on our fields – we make a tea out of it and spray on the fields once a month from Autumn to May. Works very well. We use 2 to 6 cups of corn gluten to 100 gallons of water and spray it on with a pull behind sprayer. We just put the corn gluten meal in panty hose and suspend it in the sprayer when we fill it up, then swish the panty hose, remove and stir. Use at about 35 gallons per acre. Simple, economical and effective.

  3. Awesome! I’m so allergic to RoundUp that I have to carry a pro-mask all summer and an epi-pen! Yay for a normal farm working dude that also is doin the right thing and dumping bad chemicals. Be careful with the vinegar, it’s still acidic. Wear protection!

  4. I like your enthusiasm and obvious joy for what you're doing. However, as a scientist, your methods leave much to be desired. Glyphosate IS a type of salt, which is translocated to the root of the plant by the leaves when they are sprayed. As such, it kills the plant, not just the tops of the plant, so it does take a little longer. Ammonia based products will have a more dramatic short-term result, but may or may not kill the roots as effectively. It should also be pointed out that there is no proof, from any scientific study ever performed, that glyphosate is carcinogenic. In fact, an 8 year long study by the National Cancer Institute, a well-funded quasi-governmental agency, found no causal link between glyphosate and cancer. The lawsuits that have been awarded have all been of the civil kind, and only in the most liberal of jurisdictions, where the burden of proof is apparently not very high. As long as you don't soak your fence in gly for weeks on end, and use the product as directed, there is no proven reason to avoid glyphosate. Also, what WAS that discoloration from in the vinegar solution?

  5. Really glad I stumbled on your channel the other day.
I've learned a lot since then.
This video is very educational and entertaining. I'm sold on the Green GobbleršŸ‘ thank you for sharing.
    I really like your channel.
    Cheers from Brownsville,Tx
    God Bless.

  6. I appreciate your enthusiasm and mission to try and find an "organic" solution if that's what you desire. While your test doesn't describe any potential negatives of using a 20% Vinegar solution, you also don't talk about what most people are looking for with a fence line or bare ground killer, which is efficiency (100% kill and potentially not having to re apply). Comparing a contact herbicide to a systemic in the matter that you did was also slightly misleading I thought (seeing activity from the Vinegar after an few hours, yes that makes sense. RoundUp taking several days to work it's way through the plant, also nothing earth shattering about this) Speed of kill does not always correlate to efficiency as you seemed to try and make it seem. There are many products, some containing glyphosate, some not, that are much more efficient that green gobbler on the market for use on fence rows, pasture, bare ground. I only say that because I have experience with hundreds of different products in commercial use. Doesn't mean I know it all, I just have a lot of experience. Again, I don't share your views on Glyohosate but I tip my cap to you in regards to your time spent in researching and trying to learn what works best for you and your farm.

  7. I've been told that the right solution for Round-up 2%. You've mentioned the organic stuff is a 20% solution. 2 questions:

Did you test the same solution level?

Doesn't a 20% v. 2% solution difference make the organic 10 times more expensive [ actually more because it is already 20% more expensive on Amazon].

    Am I understanding correctly?

    Thanks

  8. I wonder if that's why my metal building has been looking kind of shitty lately!!! my new neighbors behind me use weed n feed and we usually have pretty dry summers so maybe it's eating my building!

  9. @Stoney Ridge Farmer Vinegar will remove galvanizing on metal including your fence then when it gets wet it will rust. Notice the black liquid in your container that's galvanize that has been removed and the wire is black because the galvanize is gone. The reason your test piece isn't rusting is because of the vinegar is a acid which will remove some rust. We use vinegar to remove galvanizing on bolts before welding.

  10. They have been looking for people who have used roundup often And got NHL cancer for several years and only found 2 or 3.There are more people who drank milk every day and got NHL cancer. Can we get a California jury to hit the milk industry for several billion? I also haveĀ a steel lug wrench that causes cancer in California. I'm just waiting to see what I die from.
