Hi Mike – sharing this newly published (animal) study indicating that when routinely eating in a later in the day time restricted manner (e.g. skipping breakfast or an early in the day meal, but eating lunch & supper) actually has a detrimental impact on sleep and memory. This experiment implies that eating breakfast & lunch but not supper is the better choice for sleep and cognitive function. However, as we all know, animal studies frequently cannot be replicated in humans, so grain of salt here for sure. Very informative videó Mike, congrats. There are few studies which said 24h fastin raised cholesterol levels. Whats your comments on IT? Regards, Milán
Why in the world do all the authorities recommend the DASH diet? It is horrible! I wish Keto would finally receive the attention and status that it deserves. I never want to eat any other way again. My blood sugar has been incredibly stable ever since.
Not that wise to put a fake diabetes score in your medical record. Who knows what the future of medical insurance will be and how they will choose to rank a person for billing?
Hey Mike, you didn't mention HYPERISULINEMIA at all! I guess most people have this "problem" from eating too many carbs for years and then not able to make glucose on their own if needed. My friend had once 157glucose and 1,4 ketone at once…How is is possible?? I had to think about it…I realized it has to be his very low insulin level, he is skinny but with strong muscle structure whole life…😉
Common now, dont encourage deceitful behaviour and illegal medical activity to get a glucometer. Tell your doctor you will pay for it out of pocket. I am diabetic but because I'm well controlled, my doctor wont prescribe it. I was told to tell him I'll pay for it out of pocket. What he did do was allow me to test 5 times a day. Be honest dude.
Thank you! 💚 I was just searching for this information. Since using the Freestyle Libre and getting low glucose alerts during my daily IF, I did wonder what is too low. I don't feel any different than when it's higher and perform my tasks as usual.
Hi Mike, please thoughts, I feel tired, sluggish, even though I have been doin more that 1 year of fasting… And I just felt miserable, whenever I would try to do over 12h, especially if I'm exercising, I would feel cold, sleepy, tired… Stil i can't adapt… I'm from central Europe, Serbia. I was monitoring glucose all the time for 2-3 months… It would show normal results, but I would feel so sluggish when I'm fasting, even with coffee involved. Any thoughts please
Love your videos .. great information! I was morbidly obese at 140kg and 169cm tall. I’ve been OMAD for 2 years and lost nearly 40kg. I did a blood test for work but did not see doctor about results yet but thought I’d share it hoping to get some feedback .. is my HBA1C too low? I have no idea my numbers are ideal or not …Any info be great 🙂
Good info Mike, and when you have never monitored Blood sugar levels while fasting, you just know by experience the first 3 days are rough then day 4 onward you are just counting the days while getting on with life with too much energy and not enough sleep. 🙂
Great info. I wondered about this early on too. Reason being, I’m hypo… have been all my life. 45-50 used to have me curled on the floor catatonic.
Now? Completely a-symptomatic at 40mg/dL or even less. Piece of cake.
I found it very odd until Dr Bikman made a comment in a podcast that what was considered “hypo” for SAD followers is often immaterial for ketonians. As you said, we don’t burn glucose anymore… so our homeostatic glucose level can be considered immaterial until we become symptomatic.
These participants, after being in ketosis and IF for two months, had insulin drive their glucose down to .5mmoles (10mg/dL). Holy shit… hypo is below 3mmol… they had .5! And I brag about being a-symptomatic at 35mg/dL! Note: “glucose concentrations as low as .5mmoles failed to precipitate hypoglycemic reactions”! Damn, right?
I remember reading an article involving Dr. Phinney and athletes and extended fasting. Some of the athletes had blood glucose in the low 30's and were asymptomatic on an extended fast. If your glucose is lower on a fast and you feel fine you are OK.
I have Diabetes Type 2 controlled. I'm looking into getting my Diabetes into remission. I'm going to commence Ketogenic Diet, Intermittent fasting & Autophagy with the assistance of my DO. I tend to have low glucose at times. What would you suggest for me?
Finished my 11 day snake juice only fast last week, 7 days later back to full energy and workout schedule. Dr Sayfried says if everyone could get into therapeutic ketosis GKI<1 for at least 5 days (glucose/18/ketones=GKI) a year you can reduce your chances of most cancers by 50%.
Thank you for the info!!! But how low is "too low"???
And is there a good ratio between how high your ketones should be, vs. how low your blood sugar should be? (Just don't want to be too dangerous either way.)
But I see more people with high fasting blood sugar during keto than people with low blood sugar. Especially during the morning. A lot of people on keto and intermittent fasting are like 5.8 5,9 even 6,0. My doctor says I am diabetic now because of the this high fat diet. The same happened with Shawn baker I think. Carnavorie made his blood sugar sky rocket. The doctors says that was caused by the high fat diet. This is the concenous, high fat diet causing diabetes. Now I didn't tested my insulin levels. If it's low so I'm not diabetic. It's just my body is not producing insulin like before. But if it's high that means keto actually can cause diabetes on a non-diabetic person.
Your body is like a battery. We've never used it. We grew up eating 3 times a day carby foods. Living off a steady stream of power. Trying to cut the power and using your battery cells is going to a hard thing to do. It just takes time to get you mind and body use to a ketones and switching power sources. I think fasting and feasting really does help the body detox and get well.
At times I have gotten hypoglycemic to the point I'm sweating with cold hands.. at that point I didn't know if I should just throw in the towel. On those occasions, I gave in to my low blood sugar as I have no idea what repercussions would come of my continuing. Seeing as though diabetes runs in the family, I have been told it's not good to get too low as it can effect your eyes and many other functions. That said, I still do IF.

Framing, video/audio quality, graphics looking great.

Bio hacks, life hacks, and even social engineering hacks what can't Mike do?
Mike deception is never the answer. Honesty is always the best policy
Please do a video about fasting, keto and diet to treat chronic diseases such as emphysema

Low glucose, yea!!! I'm type 2 diabetic, I would love if my glucose was in the 70's. Mine now hovers from 90-113 with food and metformin. Baby steps.
I am keto 4 months, fasted 20 hours before a Dr ordered glucose test and it was high, 102. Also very high fecal fat test. How is this possible?
what is normal glucose level for you, Mike? How is your and how are Deannas Macros on a daily basis. She doesnt eats more than 30 g carbs, right?

I never monitor blood stuff. I just wanted to pop in and say hi to the community.
Is it a problem if I have a low glucose level already, because of keto. But I'm also taking metformin?
Thanks for your very useful information. You are a doing a great job.

Cool, right?
Interesting PMC on how ketones protect against hypo symptoms:

Being in ketosis is da friggin bomb! 🧨🧨🧨
I used to be hypoglycemic and have NOT had one attack of hypoglycemia since becoming ketogenic.
I like you!

What is too low or is there a such thing? Mine was 43 the other day.
