Invasive species can wreak havoc in their new habitats, and the survival of entire ecosystems can depend on getting rid of them. In some cases, we humans …
Surprised you didn't cover cats. They're an invasive non-native species that endanger native birds. I've had the displeasure of living in two neighborhoods with serious feline infestation problems. A BB in the butt only keeps them away temporarily. A BB in the butt of the owner would be more effective, but that's frowned upon. One neighbor uses a more definitive solution. He leaves a bowl of antifreeze out for them to dine upon. Another uses a live trap, and has the humane society come pick them up (lets them dispose of them).
There is another bizarre case, the (unsucessful) contamination of the rabbits in Australia with myxomavirus brought from South America. This story deserves its own video!
1. The Brown Tree Snake. (Guam) Parachute-borne, Acetaminophen-stuffed dead mice = dead snake. 2. The Lionfish. (Atlantic ocean) Taser+vacuum = Catch of the Day at Chez Michel? 3. Brook Trout (Upper Mississippi river) Positive charge lure+Taser+manual sorting = Native fish only. 4. Mountain Goats (Olympic National Park) Tranquilizer dart+blindfold+aerial relocation = Equilibrium. 5. Goats (Isabella island, Galapagos) Sterilize and make female goats attractive+radio collars+hunters = Goats? What goats?
Then the snakes with the poisoned bodies, die and decompose into the ground where people farm, drinking water, and live off of other animals who probably consumed that same poison in some way. If I am over thinking please let me know.
Other way to help get rid of non-native species especially if they're edible is Open Season if you were okay with eating it go live in the woods and eat it
Neutering your pets is a good insurance policy against escapes or careless releases, which also devastates ecosystems. It's not practical for some pets, so it comes down to being a responsible owner.
I watched a documentary about plants a while back, and they were talking about ways to try and deal with invasive plants, one of which involved unleashing a herd of goats and sheep into problem areas because they eat the entirety of some plants. I can't remember specific plants, but there's some that are either dangerous to burn, so controlled burns are not viable, and using herbicides would destroy too much surrounding native plants, so someone thought "Why not goats?"
My dad has a business using goats to reduce invasive plants. http://www.green-goats.com
Invasive….. Fitest…. Tomato potato.
Wut about the worst invasive species, humans?
I was expecting snake-eating gorillas on this list…
It's only Invasive if it's harmful to humans.
Why wouldnt we include ourselves in this kind of topics…. Love this channel by the way
Luckily for these species we don't like eating them as much as other or we would've had they on the brink
Ha snakes die from child human meds
Love this channel, but THIS was a particularly fun video. Thanks!
Did the Introduction to this video sound like he was speaking about human beings to anyone else?
we do a good job of this, i mean… we had 2 world wars, as an invasive species we do a good job of killing ourselves
Poor Judas goats, doomed to walk the earth forever in-heat and barren… But maybe they found each other and had a good retirement together 😉
Dropping dead mice in little parachutes… The guy/gal who thought of this is bloody brilliant. I would be one proud parent!
So they left a bunch of constantly horny goats in the wild without any of their own kind to bone? They should have just shot the poor girls…
There's a man in Florida who shoots lionfish with a modified Glock. I was expecting that to be here lol
Next time talk about the nightmares of invasive plants!

2020 we're bringing back crave that mineral, apparently
I refuse to shoot iguanas. I don't care if they have no predators in Florida. I love them….
We are the ultimate invasive species if we are talking on a multicellular level…

Humans: killing animals, to save animals, to solve a problem they created.
*guitar riff*
Lol imagine someone just dropped nude corpses coming down with parachutes over your house

Good video when we ourselves are invasive species
"we made a robot that will hunt down lionfish and kill them"
Me: find John Connor
No mention of myxomatosis used on rabbits in Australia?
In my area there are people using domesticated goats to eat invasive plant species, it comes full circle.
Other way to help get rid of non-native species especially if they're edible is Open Season if you were okay with eating it go live in the woods and eat it
Hmm, like the Sage grouse.. if nobody was ever shooting them…populations might recover better.
What's the solution to eliminating wild pigs in the USA? Dart them with Lion Fish?
More snakes AND more spiders? I'm out
Those goat stories are so s-a-a-a-d!

The judas goats were moved to a nearby island in case the might be needed again according to Radiolab
I do not understand why a lot of those do not suffer and die from genetic defects due to inbreeding.
Helicopters: exist
ar-15: exist
Feral hog: exist
Texas: STONKS
Nobody:
Goats: MMMM PEE!
Goats are delicious. That is my only contribution. Thank you all.
Skinner: That’s the beautiful part. When winter comes around, the gorillas freeze to death

Not gonna lie, this subject (invasive species) creates some hilarious stories.
What about humans, the most invasive species?
Weird ways we've fought donald trump
For no reason…I am watching these videos
LOVED this episode! Plus, the awesome Michael hosting 😁
