Let me explain why I refuse to grow hemp this year. And what I plan to do on our farm instead. It’s going to make for one weird farm business plan. About Gold …
Dude do yourself a favor and go find the companies that will pay u to lease your land and they do all the work on growing the hemp for cbd and selling it. You get paid for having acres for them to grow on
Deff missing out on the CBD sales.. can sell right here on youtube.. heh.. big bucks because of the high demand.. and it's only going to get bigger.. easy money.. just plant it and let it grow. growing hemp is the easiest crop to grow/harvest.. let the buds mature and cut the damn thing down and hang it to dry.. so hard.. lol. Then play with sticky buds all winter and watch the $$$ pour in.
Might be the negative connotations that come with hemp. That's why no one wants to talk to you about it. They could view you as a potential "trap", so they just hush.
I’m not sure I agree. Hemp bud is going to explode. And buyers are going to want local organic craft bud. And once MJ is fully legal, you have clientele and can easily move into that space. Growing hemp to be processed into oil by big buyers is pointless, you will be crushed.
Consider growing chickpeas. It's a much more established "venture", with equipment and buyers being a lot more available. As more and more people stop eating meat or cut down, they're going to need lysine from somewhere else. Lysine is an essential amino acid, meaning the body can't produce it by itself, it has to be in the food.
Chickpeas are by far the best source of it. At least do some calculations on the potential/probable expenses and income. Also, they need to dry out, which they can either do on the field, or in the barn (in case it's a rainy season).
So after watching a couple of your videos how about rent some of your property out to a hemp farmer? Let them do the planting handling and split on profits?
Love what you're doing there! Have you looked into permaculture? Hemp pretty much grows anywhere, so it's a good 'starters plant' if you grow it for industrial purposes. Instead of clones you could grow some from seeds on cottonwool inside. Once they're plants you can take clones from them. This way you can multiply them exponentially and have a field of them up in a few years. Perhaps you could turn the fiber into hempcrete? It's a fairly cheap, easy, and nature-friendly process. If you can make a deal with a house builder somewhere, there's your first customer. Just some random thoughts. Curious to see what you'll come up with next. Keep up the good work!
You and your wife are very wise to be very aware about not overextending. It's a mistake we made when starting out, and I'm still playing catch up years later. I was certainly too excited and ambitious about making a lot of dreams happen at once : )
Glad to hear its not due to some anti pot smoking feelings. Really enjoying your channel. I have quite a few duck friends in my neighborhood. Cool to see you raise them and learn along the way.
Carbon engineering is part of a solution. Okay 1 acre of hemp! Produces 3 to 4 times the amount of oxygen"as a acre of trees, at the same time sucking in 3 to 4 times the amount of carbon dioxide un oxygenated air as a acre of trees. As a added bonus it rejuvenates replenishes the soil back to Garden of paradise type quality! After every harvest' even if the landscape has been previously stripped robbed depleted of all its value from overharvesting things such as cotton corn soybeans. It has even been successfully grown and radiated soil. Equally as amazing hemp!! Makes over 26,000 different things) couple examples bio fossil fuel this type of fuel only releases the same amount of carbon dioxide un oxygenated air per mile, as a person does when the exhale! Versus coal oil gas fracking sand oil the worst of all. Which release tens of millions of years worth of petrified death! Per mile. Hemp has been proven, to be 10 times stronger 30% lighter than steel stronger lighter than concrete stronger lighter than brick' far more versatile making the design possibility practically limitless+ plus it is easier to work with on-site which would allow people to build stronger faster much more efficient at a fraction of the cost of what we are doing today. Hemp has the same nutritional value, as rice corn beans wheat barley milk . Hemp clothing distributes moisture across the body more efficiently then any other material leaving a person feeling and smelling their best even under the most extreme circumstances. It promotes good respiratory function, so if a person has asthma allergies or other breathing complications just by wearing it's clothing a person will alleviate those symptoms with the potential of diminishing them all together. And that is the short list. So your solution is good. However it is not going to create clean high paying jobs from coast-to-coast) that will improve upon and maintain the quality of our air water foods landscapes working living environment every day home products. The powers that be are motivated by money. So let them know that the real money!! Is in advanced power sources that are self sustainable renewable' new age high quality material resources substances that are stronger lighter easier to work with more versatile. Allowing people to use them as much as they would like or need without leaving any excess poison is toxic waste behind. We cannot be our best unless we improve upon and maintain the quality of life, so each person's generation may become stronger smarter healthier happier better off physically mentally financially possibly spiritually than the previous generation. As of now today's people are living dying off to a diminished quality of life compared to our ancient ancestors that existed for thousands of years in the many great ancient civilized nations. We have the manpower technology resources to make this kind of progress. And if the motivational tool is finances this is where it's at. Thank you for sharing your time here on YouTube.
First and foremost you don't know what you're doing. Feminized can eliminate the process of males. Having the right strain is important. Like you said equipment. but if you ever interested in it may I recommend going with Afghan CBD there isn't any people in the market and it's a booming opportunity a plant that stinks like a skunk. Most of the hemp that's on the market is garbage.
Great video of the insight into your planning. Always play the contrarian and do not go rushing in. With respect to the geese you should try to increase the feed by sprouting the grain and feeding the geese barley grass, assuming they eat barley grass, that way you can feed the geese sprouted grass in the winter.
I personally dont think you'll be disappointed with the geese. We have been raising them (Toulouse, White Chinese and Buff Pomeranian) for years and absolutley love them, even more so than our ducks. One thing you should research is the market for goose meat in your area. I know here in TN, it's not as common as in other areas of the country, but heritage turkey, on the other hand, demands top dollar at market. Also, do you plan on withholding a few pairs for future stock or purchasing goslings every year? If you chose to breed your own, you could select for the traits you want most from your flock instead of chancing it every year with a hatchery. Incubating goose eggs can be tricky, but is far from impossible and is amazingly rewarding. I'm glad I just happened upon your channel and look forward to seeing what's in store for your farm. If you ever need any help with the geese, I'd be happy to share what they've taught me over the years. Good luck with your newest endeavor!
I think you've thought this out nicely. Infrastructure and finding demand takes time and money but building on something you already know is an easier position to start from. What do you think would be the thing you'd add to make your life easier with the larger number of animals?
Will you need to add a freezer or two, or do you sell them all fresh? Those guys are big to store 🙂 Do you buy both male and female/straight run? Already hatched? Do you process everything before the "bad" weather sets in? How many months is that? Do they lay enough eggs that it would be reasonable to keep some breeding trios? What sex are the couple you have? Are there choices in breeds? I'm actually sure that you will be answering these questions as time goes on. It will make a good playlist 🙂
did you just put hemp in the title to get views
please don't eat the goose ):
11:05 duck rape

Lol
Do you not realize you can make $100,000 an acre

I won't be growing a flower because I'd rather kill animals…
I did that with fire , cinder block.= cracks
you suck a lot crying about growing hemp. might as well call you the police.
CBD is good, and THC is better. Taxes and permits are wrong. Grow it, Sell it, Spend it. Make your wallett great again.
Might be the negative connotations that come with hemp. That's why no one wants to talk to you about it. They could view you as a potential "trap", so they just hush.
I'd just get a monster truck and let the rest of life fall into place.
Necessary scale is 50 acres or so at 300-400 per lb

Cbd is snake oil.
you make a great point for your situation there bud.
20 pounds of cbd flower properly grown can fetch $100.00 per oz. or $32,000 for the 20 pounds
I couldn't imagine growing hemp….local pot heads would find out and raid your plants…..
So after watching a couple of your videos how about rent some of your property out to a hemp farmer? Let them do the planting handling and split on profits?
Go for it! Like it a lot more than the hemp idea. Goose for Christmas sounds good to me. Keep us informeb

I be interested in leasing 2 acres from you to raise rainbow trout and connect an aquaponics greenhouse to it.
Morgan, how much for a Christmas goose?
"Release the quackens!" haha.

Hemp seed for duck feed. you would have my blessing if you only raised hemp for seed just like hay for cows.

it's hard to do it all when you're a one-man show.
Stay away from hemp. It is already monopolized by Jews and Israelis. This also explains why this sector gets green light wave.
Boston Hempire been my go to for hemp
I don't know man, Geese aren't majestic as ducks
Ps, after watching some geese videos, I changed my mind they are very useful in gurding.
Great video of the insight into your planning. Always play the contrarian and do not go rushing in. Love an other duck farmer
The geese might help warn you about predators.
Ill have a a look at what your going to do with the Geese. I`ve got Tououse. Love them, I don`t like processing them however.

Great video as always Morgan
What is your plan for predator control? Fox and coyote can and will wipe you out very quickly.
I think you've thought this out nicely. Infrastructure and finding demand takes time and money but building on something you already know is an easier position to start from. What do you think would be the thing you'd add to make your life easier with the larger number of animals?
PS: I wonder what effect on the meat it would be to let the geese grow in a hemp pasture…

That's awesome! Are geese eggs used from a culinary perspective also?
I think your making a wise decision. Enjoyed hearing your whole thought process on the matter.
How can you protect the geese if they are free ranging? Why would it cost $700 to process them?
Sounds good GSF!! I WILL BE TUNING IN!
