The science of cells that never get old | Elizabeth Blackburn
What makes our bodies age … our skin wrinkle, our hair turn white, our immune systems weaken? Biologist Elizabeth Blackburn shares a Nobel Prize for her …
It's not exactly environment effect our aging, it's our attitude toward environment, no matter how bad it is. My grandma (lived until 95) was born in 1913 and she didn't have parents so she didn't have all the emotional support a kid needed, she went through WW2 with two little kids on her own cause her husband died in the first few days of WW2 (border officer), she starved for many years and didn't have even the basics for more than half of her life, never remarried cause no men left after WW2, but as far as I know she was a pretty calm person, not sure about happy, but nonetheless it's all about you, yourself, not the environment around you.
Hopefully they figure out a way to make telomerase enzyme injection not cause cancerous replication of cells. It worked in mice and reversed their aging process!
I have had profound long term stress. Taken care of a mother for several years as she had dementia, then had a severely disabled son! On top of that, rather than support and kindness, I received rudeness and shunning and judgement. I have been aging rapidly for several years. So, I really appreciate your research.
you may kindly look at biology of belief by dr. Bruce lipton and The stress of life by Dr. Han seelye….this subject is well written and spoken from different way , eventually reaching the somepoint!
Wow she did. Even the nobel prize winner for the discovery of telomerase doesn't even understand telomerase. Maria Blasco et al. in 2012 injected telomerase into mice and extended their lifespan and many other model organisms have had their lifespan extended. Wtf
Its just simply maintaining or a good balance of life, and anything too much or too little will affect our life. I can get telomeres in my mind by just simply avoid negative thoughts
Plant cells do not age. They are frequently tissue propagated endlessly. So eat live plant products and it helps add life to our bodies. Definitely appears to work. Plus gardening is low stress occupation. The few people I've heard of who went 100% with it have experienced wonderfully reduced aging rate, and disease elimination.
I really hope we discover a way to add to telomeres to our DNA. Because as soon as we start killing off senescent cells we will need to divide healthy cells to replace them which basically trades better health for less life.
Chemical, physical and emotional stress. All effect gene expression. Take for example nutrients. We know that new cells require essential nutrients, building blocks. Amino acids, EFA's, minerals. If we don't get these we produce defective cells. Eliminate chemical, physical and emotional stressers. Eat a good healthy diet, get exercise, look after the mind and always continue learning. Great talk.
what a waste of research money. even my 9 year old kid already knew stress leads to illness and shorter life. you don't need to look at pond scum to come to that same conclusion. tell me something I don't know
Great information but how do we lengthen them, what can be taken or eaten to remove this cap. I mean ancient accounts speak of a cap placed on our chromosomes to stop ppl from living 1000's of years old. The God's got upset with ppl and did that. So glad this is discovered but how to reverse this is the mission
I want to be a microbiologist but sadly, even though I love Biology, I am too afraid of not getting a job. I am probably going to study pharmacy, even though Biology is my passion 🙁
Thank you for sharing your research. It is telling us a lot how to do keep my health.
한국어 번역 올려주셔서 너무 고맙습니다. 여러번 반복해서 듣고 싶은 좋은 강의네요^^
take a stress pill?.. is there any

That was the most beautiful ted talk I've ever watched and i watched a lot
One of the best talk I‘ve ever watched. Wow
You were very fortunate.
ted talks are goodd!!!!

Dear Elizabeth, thank YOU.
Wow, if I smile at someone I could be extending our telomeres!

Just checking to see if Elizabeth thinks injecting telomerase will cause cancer
why does Hillary sound so smart? and British

An absolutely lovely, wonderful, compassionate, intelligent woman!
Her book – The Telomere Effect – genuinely changed my life & how I live it – I would highly highly recommend giving it a read.
I think I need cortisol inhibitors

i just hate this huge red TED. it distracts me
Chemical, physical and emotional stress.
Great talk.
Hi,im from Serbia cant eny body say abauth weed is canabis gud for health?
Wonderful
작은 힌트도 놓치지 않는 태도가 결국 대단한 발견을 찾아내게 되었네요. 정말 존경합니다.
Supercool stuff! But now I start think a possibilty that Telomeres affect my genetic susceptibility to being stressful human. Which I am.
what a waste of research money. even my 9 year old kid already knew stress leads to illness and shorter life. you don't need to look at pond scum to come to that same conclusion. tell me something I don't know
wow exciting!!
Go read Blackburn’s book, “The Telomere Effect!” Great read! 👌🏻
one question. How social media is afecting our telomeres, and in our children?
The Lady of Science 😍
I wonder if Dr. Blackburn did a study on which diet is best to improve Telomeres.?
Really informative and an interesting talk.
Tq so much for your efforts and love from India 😇
just another video about blocking science from really helping people to get a chance to live longer.
Brilliant.. she is so good.
One of the best Ted Talks on YouTube!
So stress kills!

شكرا
I learned about Elizabeth Blackburn a few years back, I'll never forget her-she is an inspiration!
Her dress sense is great too
