You have that scythe too far off the ground for a good cut. I put myself through junior college mowing firebreaks with scythe just like yours. I cleared the break to about 1/2 inch above the ground. I let the heel rest lightly on the ground and and swept in a circular motion, standing pretty well up right. The scythe is a great tool and thanks for showing this. The weed whacker is also noisy, dusty, and costs money to operate.
I'm wondering how well the scythe would do on denser weeds. My weed eater is terrible right now and am thinking of replacing it with a scythe, wondering if I'd even have to forge my own to get one.
Maybe I have a tip. If you 1.) harden (hammering) and 2.) sharpen it very well and 3.) cut the green grass –> you can also cut it to the ground with less effort 😉
Loved my brushcutter!
Perhaps the old guy who taught you should’ve pissed persevered a bit longer because quite clearly you weren’t very good at it
lol love the cannabis leaf tat
The scythe really beats the weed whacker in denser grass and weeds. Thinner stuff is about a draw.
Which hay is better for mulch though?
His voice sounds so mellow and cheery.
Awesome video buddy!
Shitty ink lol
You can always trust somebody with a weed tattoo on there chest lmao 😂
Somebody buy this guy a properly sized sythe for his height….
Why am watching this…
You're either 7'6" or that handle is sized for a girl or both. You also need to sharpen that thing.
Good on him. Shame there's not more like him.

That's an American scythe. You wouldn't have to squat with a properly fitted Austrian scythe.
You are not using that right lol. Its not alot of knees and back.. Its alot of twisting of the hips… I dont think that scythe is right for you.
You need a longer scythe bud.
For speed, a riding mower would be much faster in that field.
