I'm familiar with Baar's research on collagen and I'm surprised you don't recommend it for connective tissue health/repair. That would be a fun topic to further discuss on your channel.
Hi i got a question for you docs. I tore my right pec muscle a few years ago when i tried to set a new 1RM. The muscle and tendon rip of the bone and i got surgery. The doctors attached back the muscle and tendon to the bone and i was set in advanced sling for 24 hours a day in 4 month. After that i start sleep without the sling and after 6 month i got rid of the sling. My pec is feeling fine today a few years after surgery but my question is: Can i ever bench heavy again and come back to regular competition benching?
Collagen supplements are a waste of money. I just make bone broth in a crockpot for 18-30 hours Its totally easy and you get the most bang for your buck
man its sad when youtubers become "celebrities" and get the high and mighty attitude, laughing at peoples questions, out of control egos etc. whatever dude
Is there any utility to doing a Hypertrophy program if I am not gaining weight and or losing weight? I oscillate between 200 and 205 depending on how busy work is and if I am diligent about eating a good lunch. I dont feel confident I could have compliance to eat in a consistent surplus with my current lifestyle.
Because of work, there is only 1 day a week where more than 7 hours is feasible for me. Would stoping training be a bigger risk for mortality than continuing to run on 5 or 6 hours of sleep and still training?
10:03 Yes. It's called "mal de caribou" or "rabbit starvation" and I am not sure but I don't believe that it's solely for to lack of essential fatty acids.
You should not combine catechins with collagen imo.
The reason green tea is astringent is because it avidly intercalates with proline amino acid residues in proline-rich salivary peptides (PRP).
This intercalation is a defense mechanism to protect us from the damaging effects of tannins, which would otherwise bind essential proteins in the GI tract.
Catechin binding to proteins though makes them less digestible. So it may be that by combining tannic catechins with your proline-rich collagen product (especially if that collagen product is partially hydrolyzed) will reduce the bioavailability and effectiveness of both the collagen and the green tea catechins.
I like this Q and A a lot better now that I think you explain things really well without appearing … cocky. I used to watch older Q and A's and sometimes you would almost laugh at questions (often rightly so, but it came across as a bit brusque). Maybe you were in a bad mood those times. Anyway, just an observation. I think this will go a long way to attract more subscribers and a generally broader audience. I think the masses of people will still go to the bro-advice channels, which are legion and massive, but that's okay. Keep up the good work.
If I may ask, do you have any advice on anxiety, which in my case is linked to chronic nerve pain in the fingers for no clear medical reason? I mean, apparently the pain would not be due to any tissue damage. It's a peripheral neuropathy issue, but related to stress. I went to a handful of physical therapists who specialize in hands and wrists, and they couldn't come up with a diagnosis even, except overuse. Medical examination in a hospital (pics and nerve conduction) also was negative. The physical therapists all cleared me and told me to keep training, which I did.
The obvious answer would be to reduce stress, but for some reason the pain keeps persisting, even though to my mind the fundamental reason for the stress is the pain I perceive. Weeks ago, the symptoms got worse all of a sudden, with numbness and a prickly feeling in the hands, then feet, for no reason I could come up with. I initially thought carpal tunnel and was almost relieved to finally self-diagnose me, but then it was in the feet too and I got enormously scared, but the neurologist said it's no carpal tunnel (of course). My stress levels were very high due to neighbor noise, and going to the gym and train was my way to feel better. My family doctor tells me to not use my hands (in the gym) for 30 days and I'm 15 days in. Can't do much without my hands. I don't like to acknowledge the pain, but it's still there. I'd rather have a clear injury like a sprained muscle or something than something as complex as this. Lifting history is almost 4 years without injury, then this stuff started to happen, going on for over a year now.
Well, sorry for the rant and any weirdness in it (English is not my native language: I'm Dutch). Maybe someone here has some advice. I know, medical advice can't be given, but just some general pointers that may help me if I integrate them into my life? (I don't smoke, no alcohol, I sleep 8-9 hours a night, nutrition is consistent and I pay attention to it, I am not overweight, no medications*). * Well, seeing as you talked about CBD a while, I admit I use that. You said it might even be counterproductive…
i'll say this: strength training is more effective for depression than aerobic exercise in the sense that cardio sucks and is boring and i hate it and don't like doing it
Loved the collagen answer. Rather than cash in on a trendy product, BBM's commitment to the truth is and will remain your biggest selling point. Rock on
Welp, I just bought 2kg of collagen protein like 2 weeks ago with tendon health in mind. I couldn't find any strong consensus on it on the internet so I figured I would just buy it and worst case scenario, placebo myself. Oh well I'll finish the pouch I suppose.
Time nicely spent. Would dig kibitzing sometime with ya Dr J.F about barbells to bar mitzvahs (mine was in 90') The romanian deadlift btw in my opinion should be called the The Romanian Hiplift! Because there be no dead-stop! 🙂
Please keep uploading these live streams. Love being able to watch them back when I miss them.
CBD OIL answer is at 23:35

Would you make a high velocity/ powerlifting template? i'd do it in a heart beat.
Keep up the good work!

Keep these up! Easily the best thing to listen to during GPP
did he just imply that powerlifters having a "speed day" is a waste of time?
Nice glasses btw
Alan Thrall's "Being a father. Novice linear progression". Should be interesting.
Jordan please can you get a Pop Filter for the Mic you use. i love the content and knowledge but some sounds are so sharp on my ears.
Excellent Q/A, thanks for touching on the trendy collagen and CBD oil bits. Also loved the little clip of Alan at the end 😂
Love these Q&A's! So much great information 👍🏼💪🏼
Hi,
Are you familiar with Dr. Greger and his website / youtube channel "NutritionFacts.org" ? If yes, what do you think about it?
Thanks.

I almost never sleep more than 4 or 5 hours a night so I guess I'm fucked.
Thank you for your insight
can i match into your residency?

Time stamps please.
I couldn't find most of the templates spoken about toward the end of the video. Are they still due to be released?
